An attractive Japanese ivory case decorated with a lady and gentleman wearing traditional Japanese robes. Although it has been stained using a fairly limited palette of colours (yellow, red, burgundy and black), the fine quality of the carving creates a vibrant scene. The reverse is engraved with a simple traditional Japanese view of a pine tree and the rising sun. The case also bears the artists signature.
