A very unusual Indian silver and brass filigree case, decorated with a garland of raised filigree flowers and leaves around a miniature painting of the Taj Mahal. The miniature is painted on ivory.         

Made towards the latter half of the 19th century, miniature paintings like these, set in a variety of objects, were made as souvenirs.
