Service)
The collection of the Hampshire Museums Service consists of 87 card cases. It will be of particular interest to those just starting to build a collection, as it comprises cases in a range of materials including wood, ivory, mother-of-pearl, tortoiseshell, lacquer, porcupine quill, sealing wax and leather.
The collection was formed when the Hampshire Museums Service brought together a number of cases from collections throughout the County, as well as through the purchase of cases and private donations.
Whilst a number of cases are on display at various museums throughout the County, conveniently for collectors and enthusiasts, the entire collection, together with descriptions of each case, can be viewed online.
