The history of the visiting card case begins in the 18th century. These pages gives a brief history of the rise and evetual decline of the visiting card case and its place in our social history.

Visiting card cases were made in a wide variety of materials. This page lists the 30 or so materials that have been recorded.
The standard ladies’ visiting card case measured 3 x 4”, but cases can be found in a range of sizes and outline shapes. These pages give a brief overview of the various shapes and sizes you can expect to find.
