This rock crystal, aquamarine cameo and diamond card case was made by Janesich of Paris, circa 1910. The rock crystal is carved on both sides with motifs of ribbons and foliate scrolls, the front centring an oval aquamarine cameo of a dancing nymph holding a garland. The hinges and cameo are framed with platinum and rose- cut diamonds. The case is signed A Janesich, Paris and numbered 9451; it was sold with a leather case stamped Janesich, 19 Rue de la Paix, Paris.


This case sold at Sotheby's in New York in December 2001 for $16,800 (then equivalent to £10,000).
